With the backlight on, I was able to record over 8 hours of 2channel/24bit audio using Powerex rechargeable batteries.
It took 3 attempts to complete a full round of battery testing. The first try I had to keep watching to restart recording when the 1GB SD card was full, and ran out of time after over 6 hours. The 2nd try I left it on overnight, but discovered in the morning that it only records up to 2hours then stops. Finally with the 3rd attempt everything was smooth until something accidently pushed the power switch, clearing the timer during one of the 2-hour chunks. I think it was over 17minutes. That is why the result is >8hours. It definitely recorded for 8 hours, but I'm not sure exactly how much more. It's less than 2 hours, and I think under 1.
I'm not in a hurry to repeat the test, or use different variables, because it requires being ready to restart recording every 2 hours, for a period over 8 hours. That's basically an all day affair.
